You Can Come Back

-          By Gayatri Anil Deshpande

(This is a poem written by me. It’s about how everyone you meet in life leaves an imprint on you but you always have a choice in deciding whether you want this imprint to affect your character.)

Everyone has their own tale.

I have mine,

You have yours,

And we have ours -

With every lie,

Every truth, laugh and cry.

We're all a little imperfect,

As well as rough around the edges.

It keeps us from wanting more,

But it makes us want more.

And remember -

When you step into my room,

You carry your story with you

And it merges into mine.

That is when you and I,

We become a 'We'.

We step into another room,

Together this time.

A catchless catch though

Is that you oughtn’t stay forever.

Once you go somewhere,

You can always come back.

Yes, you can come back,

But you may not be the same.

And the room you'd left behind?

It too may have changed.

But, you Can come back.

My story isn't just all Me.

There's a little of me,

A little of you,

And a little bit of everyone.

A step inside a room you didn't like?

Worry not - it wasn't a promise.

It was a choice. And yes, they matter.

But sometimes, you can step out.

Step out, and close the door.

Close the door

And keep it closed.

Keep it closed

And never look back.
